Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits as we transition into the beautiful season of fall. 🍂

Fall Gratitude: Fall is a time for reflection, gratitude, and cozy moments. It's a season that reminds us of the beauty in letting go, just like the leaves falling from trees. I'm filled with gratitude for each of you, for the wonderful moments we've shared on the yoga mat, and the community we've built.

Delicious Treats: As a heartfelt token of gratitude, I want to share a wonderful recipe from Rosalee De La Foret's book, "Alchemy of Herbs." This delightful concoction features Hawthorn (Crataegus spp), renowned for its robust support for heart health.

Best savored after dinner, this herbal elixir not only warms the soul but also aids digestion. Beyond its comforting qualities, the infusion is crafted to dispel stagnation and promote the well-being of your heart.

Having prepared this for my own family, I found it to be a delightful addition to our holiday gatherings. I invite you to partake in this creation, adding a touch of herbal warmth and heartiness to your moments. Enjoy the recipe and the heartful benefits it brings! 🌿💖

What you’ll need…

  • 1 cup dried hawthorn berries (80 grams)
  • 1 apple, chopped, seeds removed
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 3 cardamom pods, crushed
  • 1 vanilla bean, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened 100% pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 cup honey, or to taste
  • 2 cups brandy
  • Place all of the herbs, spices, and fruit in a 1-quart jar.
  • Add the pomegranate juice and honey, then fill the jar the rest of the way with brandy (approximately 2 cups).
  • Infuse this for 4 weeks, shaking often.
  • Strain. This can be stored in a dark, cool location and is best consumed within 1 year.
  • Yield: approximately 1 1/2 cups

Books and Movies:  I recently discovered the enchanting book "Wise Child" by Monica Furlong. Set in a remote Scottish village, it unfolds the tale of a nine-year-old child adopted by a mysterious healer and sorceress—a captivating read.
On the screen, I delved into two exceptional productions.  All the light we cannot see on Netflix.  is a must-watch for those seeking inspiration about humanity.  Additionally, there's Gratitude Reveal Movie on The Louie Channel, a movie that promises a delightful journey into the power of gratitude.

Farmers Market: Speaking of fall delights, have you visited the Niles-Fremont Farmers Market lately? It's been thriving with an array of new vendors offering fresh, locally-sourced produce and artisanal goods. I frequent the market almost every week and would love to see you there too. Let's support our local community while relishing the flavors of the season.

Thank you for being part of our yoga community. Your presence and dedication light up our yoga space.

Wishing you a harmonious and gratitude-filled fall. Feel free to respond with your thoughts on the [Book/Movie/Recipe] or if you plan to visit the farmers market. I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards, Angela

P.S. Stay tuned for our upcoming events and classes! 🧘‍♀️
